we are one nation with millions
of voices and dreams and worries

from Appalachia to Alaska

from Selma to San Francisco

we have a president who
dreamed the impossible dream

we saw weeping, dancing in the streets
while disappointment draped many living rooms

hope...... has overcome
fear of the unknown

and the words become

critical challenges

that rest heavy in one pair
of outstretched hands……

electrons busily composing our life
and decomposing our current body

we can’t really see electrons
just observe their residue
with microscopes constructed
from electrons

we leave no trace but ideas
all else is a mirage

fingers point – and the meaning
is in the pointing, not the finger

do electrons exist (are you positive?)
or are they just obscure tools to exchange ideas
through ideas which we have created

infinity is a trick
to make the scales
we have fabricated
appear to balance

it’s all appearance
don’t be negative
